PSG Should Thank Mbappe For The Business Courtesy
Mbappe made the optimal decision on how and when he announced his decision. This positions him to be seen more favorably to PSG fans. Protecting his legacy so he will be glorified in the manner PSG retells his history with the club.
Here is the alternative move: Mbappe says nothing until the end of next season. Professional behavior and constant downplaying a move away from PSG in interviews and Tweets. There would be this "weird" delay with Mbappe not signing an extension. Then Madrid signs him on a Free Transfer.
Mbappe and his camp know this would damage his legacy with PSG fans. In reality, he gave a business courtesy to PSG, the fans would not forgive him if he'd left any other way. He made a good decision, which was the objectively best decision. With this, Mbappe gave PSG an opportunity to be able to make a choice. Sell now and get some money or go free at the end of the season.
He accomplished his league titles, goals and records. He knows he's winning a Champions League with or without PSG, so he is not losing sleep not yet having that trophy. Mbappe knows he did the best he could for PSG, his debt has been paid. Most people put more blame on the owners and managers rather than Mbappe (if any). They know he pulled his weight. He is on to better things.
