When everyday people play NO role in electing the leadership, shaping the structure and determining the focus of their ostensibly national soccer federation – but former players have a COUNCIL that institutionalizes their influence and secures votes (read the bylaws), this is what you fucking get. Andrew Jennings, Lisana Liburd and Mel Brennan have told you over and over for more than a decade: you want the cockraoches, wanna-be gangster theives and nepotistic monsters OUT of the world's most democratically played and supported sport? Democratize the leadership and the leadership institutions. When YOU have a say in who runs US Soccer and not just former players like Reyna or Lalas or whomever (as if there is one scintilla of evidence that playing the sport builds or leads to the same skillet required to lead the sport), then YOU and I will get the governance we expect. Today, we're just getting the governance we deserve…until we DEMAND something different.
Here's a Solomonic solution:
(1) Do not renew Berhalter's contract for his tactical decision making in the WC.
(2) Ban the Reyna parents from all USMNT games for life and prohibit them from contacting any staff members/coaches/players in the USMNT.
(3) Leave GIO alone – he's just an average player in the Bundesliga. He will probably not play in the USMNT again….because of his performance and personality.

If Gio’s mom thought these allegations were genuinely concerning and cared about the incident, she would’ve made it know when Greg was being considered for the job. Waiting until Gio’s World Cup problems occurred makes it seem like she is now just being petty and vindictive, and like a soccer mom with an entitled son.
Pundits making this exclusively and American problem should read the English press reports about players' parents.

US soccer is generations behind other countries. I always cheer for the US woman's just becuase they have style and some flare, not like the boring US mens team that paly a waaaaaaay too conservative style of soccer. Bores me half to death when ever i watch them. Besides Landon Donovan, Pulsic and Dempsey, no one else passes the eye test or has the "IT" factor to being something speacial.

1) Berhalter's already admitted he kicked the woman, his now wife. That's not an allogation and truth.
2) As for Reyan's wife. It should be known she was college roommates and teammates with the woman kicked, Berhalter's now wife. So this has been a long time coming i'd guess. Like i'd bet she has always hated him. They might have been friendly but she probably never liked him.
3) My guess is this isn't simply retaliation for not being played. I think this was told to the US Soccer Federation directly after Berhalter went public with the comments that Gio was Disruptive at that public speaking event. So my reading is that probably set it over the top. The not playing Gio was bad, but the airing of public dirty laundry was what promted Mrs Reyna to say, "Well if you're airing that laundry Greg, and are trying to claim you're above reproach, i'll air your old dirty laundry and show that you are not so clean cut." That's my read.
