    During the last 7 seasons, Messi scored 49 goals and provided 17 assists in 61 UCL games. That’s 66 goal contributions in 61 games. He did this as a 28-35 year old, i.e. far from his prime.

    The 49 UCL goals scored by Messi during the last 7 years include, for example:

    – 5 against Manchester City,
    – 3 against PSG (2 penalty goals),
    – 3 against Chelsea,
    – 3 against Arsenal (1 penalty goal),
    – 3 against Juventus (1 penalty goal),
    – 2 against Tottenham,
    – 2 against Liverpool,
    – 2 against Manchester United,
    – 1 against Dortmund
    etcetera


    That is, in the last 7 years, Messi scored 23 goals against the top UCL opponents included in the list above. He scored 12 of these 23 goals in the UCL knockout stages.

    Similarly, his 17 assists in the UCL during the last 7 years include, for example:

    – 2 against Dortmund,
    – 2 against Juventus,
    – 1 against Chelsea
    – 1 against Manchester City
    etcetera


    Messi also made 34 goal contributions (goals + assists) in 29 appearences in the Copa America and World Cup tournaments during the last 7 years, including:

    – 2 against Croatia
    – 2 against Netherlands

    And still these stats only show his direct goal contributions. Anyone who watched the actual games knows that his contributions usually went far beyond just scoring goals and providing assists. In most of the games, he created a large number of chances for his teammates that are not included in the goal contributions statistics I cite above.

    Conclusion: @GO is delusional.

  32. Madrid are awful team as they can't win on a consistent basis. There UCL wins are based on luck, referee bias, and other decision scandals that allow them to win in a very few games. Their league status shows this and no where near the best in Europe in my opinion
