This French national team love the media spotlight too much. That said, even though I think Mbappe doesn't deserve the captaincy, france don't have many candidates for that role either, even the previous captain Hugo Loris wasn't really captain material, so it's understandable why they have to give it to their biggest talent with the giant ego because they don't really have anyone else.
