The difference between this Argentina and old Argentina is the way they keep fighting. They keep making the same mistakes and luck is certainly never on their side, that's why they barely defeated Australia although they dominated. However, they keep winning because now they don't put their heads down and give up.

Argentina need to move the ball quicker, get it to Messi in more dangerous position and they'll be favourites for the tournament. Play like that against Holland and they'll be out. Only so much Messi can do when Martinez is doing his best Higuain impression.

That Maroon shirt guy is still not over the Mexico-Argentina match seriously. No team can create goals and chances when opposite team just sits in the back and plays counter attack. Argentina doesn't have legs upfront apart from Alvarez, and Martinez is struggling to finish. Even if messi drops back and creates chances who will finish them?
Everything aside, Argentina are a bunch of players who just play for the passion of football, call me mad or something, these bunch of players thrive on momentum by winning each match and adding something new in each game which is sufficient to win. No need to be dominating and exceptional WC that doesn't work that way, all you play is to take your chances and just win ,doesn't matter how ugly it is.
They have done it against Brazil in Copa America Final last year and the momentum and drive are the same in this tournament too.
