  1. The leadership at US Soccer is amateurish. They managed to fritter away a war chest of over $130 Million in the last few years with all the lawsuits and poor decisions on operational funding. It was time to go in a new direction and while GGG met basic expectations I'm not sure that he actually was the difference or it was the significant improvement in the quality of players available to the USMNT. GGG made some major errors of judgement in confidentiality and his handling of Reyna. While I was not crazy about Steve Sampson during his tenure I will forever respect the guy because he kept to himself the reasons why John Harkes was dropped from the US WC team and he took an incredible amount of criticism. Only years later did Wynalda finally reveal the issue of Harkes sleeping with his wife that cause a uproar in the camp. The whole looking at other candidates seems to have been something of a farce that was just enough to keep US soccer out of potential legal trouble since they had already made the decision to rehire GGG. At least 3 of these other coaches have said (Perez, Viera and Curtain) they were not even interviewed only "spoken" to to gauge their interest of which all three have indicated their serious interest. What surprises me is that the contract is apparently through the 26 WC instead of Copa America with an option to the WC depending on how the US does – think Semi-Final. And on top of this given the situation with Reyna, he is open to being criticized whether he plays him or not. If he doesn't play him then it could be seen as retaliation. If he does play GGG may feel he has to play him even in situation where either form or tactical requirements don't make sense. Unlike many people I think GGG did ok through the last cycle but I don't see him taking the team to another level.

  2. USSF doing what USSF does, throw the same solution at every problem. Staying within US small circle refusing to try and expand. For all those Lalas repeaters of course Greg has a great win percentage look at the talent. He’ll they made BJ look like a tactical genius.

  3. SO basically the federation is full of it, and paid one of their boys to rehire another one of their boys and give him a big raise on the way. Well….

  4. Vieira's camp just confirmed what the US fanbase already knows, USSF always intended to hire their buddy Berhalter over more qualified candidates interested in the position.

  5. Incompetent people in positions of power is not an unfrequent occurrence as an American. Question is though, what dirt does Berhalter have on the USSF?

  6. I am done with US Soccer, it is obvious to everyone that they are unwilling to do what is necessary to get better, US Soccer leadership is completely clueless and they will find out in 2026 when they get knocked out before the quarters once again. It does not matter who the players want, horrible, horrible, horrible decision. I will no longer follow or root for this team, hope they fall flat in 26!!

  7. I listen to Jim Rome a lot. He generally hates soccer, for the most part. With one exception, of course. He and Berhalter were neighbors in Orange County and their families are really close. He has been a Berhalter fan boy since day #1. He interviewed him a few days after he was hired in 2018. But, even Rome said he didn't understand all of the hate on Twitter and Social Media. So, it's "out there". Everyone is aware of the unhappiness within the fan base.

  8. USSF's (Cindy) newfound 'transparency' is just their fancy word for: please trust our b.s. narratives that we throw out and do not question them.

  9. USSF is like our government: they lie to you, come up with fake stories, then when you’re on to them, they try to distract you with a false narratives

  10. Wowsers…listened to the interview and the weaponized questions. It seems GB hasn't learned a thing. Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse…what a shame.
