  1. the game in truth should have ended in a draw with both teams scoring 1-1 . clint dempsy was in terrible form in the game and was the reason TFC won the game . seattle should be looking to transfer solid quick defenders and better midfielders

  2. This league needs more money for the players and there would be more players of Jermain Defoe's quality. Stop with the cap it's bullshit. The owners have the money and they should be allowed to spend it. Make the league better.

  3. Strange seeing Dempsey and Defoe on opposite teams in the MLS. Defoe is still a quality player and Tottenham are really missing out on a great goal poacher. I didn't know Obafemi Martins is still playing lolz.

  4. A massive contract like that at the back end end of his career is great for him personally but wish he stayed at the lane for a couple more seasons. COYS. Yiddo.

  5. All these comments about how good Defoe is and how he's going to tear up the league are really silly. He really wasn't that impressive. 99% of forwards in MLS will capitalize on a defensive mistake like that. It was very poor defense, not dominating forward play. I'm not saying he isn't good, but that this particular game doesn't really indicate his purported dominance–he was given a gift and he took it, which is a characteristic of any average forward. Plus, he is definitely not the only striker in PL form in MLS. Dempsey was signed in his prime, and was poised to play at least 2-3 more years for Tottenham if he didn't want to come back to the states. And as you'll see here, he got open without being given the gift, controlled it past two defenders, and slammed it home on a great team goal and individual effort. Defoe was given his goals. Seattle may have lost, but anyone who says that TFC played the better game, or that Defoe outplayed Dempsey very obviously didn't watch the whole game.

  6. Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley, Júlio César = GG. I was hoping this match would be amazing to see a Seattle finally put together tight and this freak TFC team of new star players. Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley and Júlio César vs Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey. It has that taste of European essence mixed within it, that you know it's good.

  7. Not saying TFC will be great but they're showing a lot of promise. Good showing for a first game. 2 things that will make this a better team are better wing play and better tactics to secure points. I'm not sold on them being a playoff team yet.

Seattle is in trouble. Their defense is still terrible and they are going to score less despite having Martens and Dempsey. Eddie Johnson stretched defenses that created open spaces for everyone. I'm calling it now, Seattle won't make the playoffs and Sigi will be sacked.

  8. Defoe is going to break all goalscoring records. He is the only Premier League level player in the MLS who could still play for a top BPL team now. As I said Defoe is the best signing the MLS has ever made because he is the only big star to come to the league still at his peak.

  9. Toronto is really fortunate that Drake pumped so much money into the club. Defoe is such a quality player, he is the best in the MLS in my opinion. But yeah so good to see Seattle lose!

  10. I'm a bit out of the loop regarding MLS. Did Toronto only sign new players, or is something else new as well (coach, manager, owner, sponsor)?

  11. The backpass was an abortion, any English Championship player will put that away every day of the week… the Seattle defence was miles off him…. even in park football you would push up and make sure Defoe is having to take a diagonal run, negate his forward facing position and force him to be up another twenty yards up the pitch. Only if they were scared of his pace would they back off… but by a few yards so they can close down quickly as he receives (best policy) or get two yards start if he gains control and possession… they were 12 FEET away doing neither one nor the other… What a poor defence. This is the MLS standard?
No challenge on either of those goals… not one challenge… unreal…. simply not tight enough…

Good luck TFC you did well to buy this player, I still maintain Defoe will score around 30-35 goals this season in a league of this standard..
MLS…growing in fans, but a long way to go in quality…. this puts it into perspective.
